Malaysian blackwood is a very rare species that is a true ebony in the Diospyros genus whose price and scarcity mirror that of other, more well-known ebonies (such as Gaboon, Mun, and Macassar). It is a rich, very dark brown hue with beautiful, jet-black figuring. This drum was created from ten year dried Malaysian blackwood. 

This 6.25 x 14” snare has contrasting brass lugs, tension rods and 3mm triple flanged hoops and a gold DW Mag throw off/5 position butt plate. Bearing edges are 45 degrees with an 1/8” roundover and wide, shallow snare beds. It comes equipped with Evans heads and PureSound 30 strand snares.

Recorded without EQ, compression, or effects at One Music Studios using SM57, SM7B, and C14 microphones. The first take of the build-up and beat are without muffling. The second takes utilize one moon gel on the top head.
